Joost Gerritsen - oil on canvas 2013

RoadRunner – Oil on canvas – 92 x 80 cm

There is a moment during the process of making an art piece that everything flows. What was a complicated matter in the first phase of creation now is just a trivial matter.
Such moments are wonderfull, your hand and feeling make a perfect match. Things like good or bad, ugly or beautiful are of no importance. Only the rhythm of your own soul matters.

It all sounds so spiritual and mysterious sometimes when I want to describe the process of making an art piece. The process in it self is mysterious, starting out with raw materials, combining them and ending up with a piece of work full of emotions.

I don’t believe in objective art, even the minimalist movement never could achieve such a thing. Art is always personal. I paint who I am. Nothing more, nothing less.
